Roofer Jobs in Minneapolis, MN

Minneapolis, MN has a strong and active market for roofer work, with opportunities spanning residential projects, commercial builds, and infrastructure maintenance. Whether you're an experienced professional looking for your next opportunity or a contractor seeking reliable talent, Minneapolis's construction and trades sector offers competitive pay and steady work year-round. The demand for skilled roofer workers in Minneapolis continues to grow as the city expands and existing properties require ongoing maintenance and upgrades.

Employers hiring roofer workers in Minneapolis typically offer salaries in the range of $38,000–$80,000 annually, or $20–$40 per hour for hourly positions — depending on experience, specialization, and whether the role is union or non-union. The roofer trade is driven by storm damage repairs and new residential construction, which means qualified candidates in Minneapolis often have multiple offers to consider. Many states require contractor licensing for roofing; OSHA 10/30 is widely expected. Checking current listings regularly and applying early gives you a significant edge in this competitive market.

What Minneapolis Employers Look For

Successful roofer professionals in Minneapolis bring a combination of technical and practical skills to the job. Employers commonly look for proficiency in shingle installation, flat roofing, leak detection, safety harness use, as well as strong communication skills, the ability to read work orders and plans, and a commitment to jobsite safety. Experience with local building codes and permit processes specific to MN is a major plus. Many Minneapolis employers also value reliability, a clean driving record for site travel, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger crew.
